Beat The Glare with Polarized Lenses

As Autumn approaches and the leaves turn from green to golden shades of burnt umber, the sun intensifies it’s rays and driving becomes a little trickier. It is therefore important that your eyes have the best clarity at this time of year. So, not only should you make sure you are up-to-date with your eye tests but also make sure your lenses are protecting you from that harmful glare.

A report recently carried out by the AA (Automobile Association) found that the glare from the setting sun during rush hour is to blame for 36 deaths a year and approximately 3000 accidents. Many of these could be avoided by wearing polarized lenses.

Many drivers face dazzling bright light at this time of year, because the sun sits at a more direct angle to the earth. The potential for accidents on the road is very real – sometimes the sun is so bright that it’s painful and temporarily blinding – especially if it’s reflected off another car or the water. Polarized lenses eliminate this reflected glare, offering more comfort even for normal driving conditions.

Tests have shown that drivers wearing polarized lenses, react quicker than those with regular sunglasses lenses. Polarized lenses are usually tinted brown or grey to help prevent bright sunlight from damaging or discomforting the eyes. You can view our polarized lenses here.
